Itinerary: Luang Prabang - Pak Ou - Khouangsy

Day 1 LUANG PRABANG
Meet upon arrival at Luang Prabang airport, transfer and check-in at your hotel. In the afternoon, visitVat Visoun temple with its Singhalese-style stupa, That Makmo, and Vat Aham, one of the city’s major tutelary shrines housing the puppets of the Lao ancestors. Then, enjoy the sunset along the Mekong River at Vat Siphouthabath.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 2 LUANG PRABANG / PAK OU / KHOUANGSY/ LUANG PRABANG (B)
After breakfast, visit Vat Xieng Thong, considered as the most beautiful temple of Luang Prabang with roofs that sweep low to the ground. Then take a traditional riverboat for a 2-hour cruise upstream the Mekong River towards Pak Ou, at the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers, to visit the sacred caves of Tham Ting and Tham Phoum, home to hundreds of Buddha statues. On the way, visit Vat Longkhoune temple, famous for its 18th century frescoes, and then Ban Xang Hai village where sticky rice wine distillation can be seen. Return to Luang Prabang and continue by car to visit the weaving village of Ban Xang Khong where traditional mulberry leaves paper is also produced. excursion by car to the beautiful waterfalls of Khouang Sy nestled in the lush tropical vegetation. On the way, visit some hill tribes’ villages such as the H’Mong village of Ban Thinkeo, the Khmu village of Ban Thapaene and the Thai Lu village of Ban Phanom. Return to Luang Prabang and spend some time strolling through the H’Mong market.

Day 3 LUANG PRABANG / TOUR A DOS D’ELEPHANT ET RANDONNEE (B/D)
After breakfast, departure from your hotel at about 8h30 or 9h00.
After a short ride out of town you and your local guide will arrive at the Elephant Park Project area for a day of activities. The Elephant Park Project is located next to the “Lao Spirit Resort” about 15 km out of town and in the middle of a wonderful mountainous surrounding.
After crossing the small river you will be introduced to the Asian elephants and go out for a scenic ride. Enjoy the new perspective and the amazing nature on this 1 hour elephant ride. Stunning landscape, quietness, and the lush nature give you a relaxing stay on the back of the protected elephant. Your will make your way through small forests and along the Nam Khan river near the amazing Tad Sae waterfalls(different trail in dry season from January to August).
The soft half day trekking (about 3 to 4 hours) will lead you out into a Khamu village where you get an insight in every day life and culture of this hill tribe. The village is situated on the foot of a big mountain range. Most of the people here are farmers and fishermen and live from their traditional way of agriculture. They even speak a different language and your guide will help you to ask questions. This village trek is part of the “Fair Trek” Project which supports seven villages in the area. It is in cooperation between authorities, the villages and the operating tour company.
Return to Luang Prabang.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 4 LUANG PRABANG (B)
After breakfast, visit the National Museum (former King’s Palace) displaying a collection of personal artifacts of the Royal Family. Continue to visit the nearby Vat Mai temple, which was the residence of a Buddhist patriarch before 1975, before climbing Phousi Hill for an outstanding view over the former Royal capital and the Mekong.
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
